With a population of 1.3 million, Milan is a luxurious and sophisticated city. A fashion house, and the richest of manufacturing, often accused of being obsessed with money. Unlike many homes in Europe, Milan is almost completely deserted in August, when everyone runs away from resorts and holiday destinations. Milan is home to high-end models over football (soccer) players, and certainly a paradise for shoppers. It also offers a few tourist attractions, the most famous of these is the spectacular Duomo, with a capacity of 40,000 and an incredible facade. It also offers incredible views of the roof.
Do not forget the beautiful Galleria Vittoria Emanuele II, perfect for a walk. He leads in the direction of La Scala, the world’s most famous opera house – consider taking in a performance. Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci painting in the center of Da Vinci Code, is available for inspection at the Cenacolo Vinciano, but book in advance to ensure you enter you to decide whether one of the apostles is actually Mary Magdalene.
Food
Italy is justly famous for its wonderful food, although some changes to our country of origin means that there must be a genuine search for Milan. Delicious carbonara was generally not well adapted to the foreign policy heavy, creamy thing. Try authentic carbonara at Osteria de Lazzaretto, a boiled egg, parsley and ham mixture through the piping hot pasta. It has a rich, simple, and not the cream is looming! Also watch out for traditional dishes of Lombardy, including Milan, veal chops, Ossobuco with gremolata and saffron risotto Milanese.
Airport
Most international flights arrive at Malpensa airport, about 50 km from Milan. It is important to note that some domestic and some European flights arrive and depart from the small airport of Linate, which is just 7 km east of the city. Make sure you know who your airport!
